Georg-W. Bruns

Georg-W. Bruns, Dipl.-Ing., is a member of the board of Gartenbau-Versicherung.

Mr Bruns is from a family of gardeners in Kamen, Westphalia and was born in 1954. After acquiring his intermediate secondary school leaving certificate and gaining the higher education qualifications in economics he completed vocational training in a flower and ornamental plants nursery in Germany's Sauerland region. After military service and a year working in his parent's nursery he studied horticulture at the university of applied science in Wiesbaden/Geisenheim, majoring in ornamental plants, vegetables, technology and management. While he was still at university he took part in work experience with the "gaertnerhagel" insurance company. He was given a permanent position after successfully completing his studies in 1979. His work focussed initially on field service, claims settlement, technology in nurseries and product development. He was appointed to the board of Gartenbau-Versicherung in 1994 and given the insurance operations portfolio (support for members, contract management and claims settlement).
